Use saddleseek.com to advertise your surplus equestrian equipment and to source used items of tack for your horse, clothing for you and equipment for the yard. The site is designed to be easy to use – listing an item takes just minutes.
You do not need to register to browse the site. There are three search options (found on the left hand side of the screen):
Once you have found an item you are interested in you can contact the seller directly. Sellers contact details will appear alongside their advert.
The seller will display which methods of payment they will accept. Click here for payment advice.
The seller will display which type of shipping is available i.e.: collection only, seller to post or either. The seller will identify whether the price of the item includes postage. Ensure that buyer and seller are clear on who is paying the postage before the transaction is made. For some example prices click here.
You will need to register before you place an advert. This only takes a moment. When you register you will be given the option to include a little information about yourself – for your “meet the seller profile”.
You will be asked to set up a password when registering. If you have forgotten your password click “forgotten password” button on the “sign in” page. You will also be asked for a landline number and address. These are for verification purposes and will not show on your advert.
Go to “my page” to manage your account. If your item sells before 90 days you can tick the sold box and it will show as sold on the advert. Adverts will be automatically removed after 90 days. You cannot edit an advert after it has been published. However, you can make a request for us to change it for you, by emailing us.
This is where you can choose to write a little about yourself and this will be linked to your advert(s). You can upload a picture of yourself or your horse. Meet the seller is designed to make buyers feel more confident about buying from you. The horse world is a close community and there is every chance that the buyer will know you or know someone that knows you. If you are an instructor or offer other equine services this is also a good opportunity to promote yourself. If you have a website and want to make a link you can do so here. This is optional but buyers may choose to buy from a seller with a meet the seller profile over a seller without.
We recommend that before you release funds, you are satisfied that the item is as listed and that you have verified your sellers identity. To gain as much information about your seller as possible we recommend the following:

We recommend that you have cleared funds from the buyer before you release any goods. Some buyers may be reluctant to do this so make attempts to verify your identity and send them a guarantee that you will send the goods on clearance of funds. When advertising a saddle on saddleseek.com you are obliged to identify whether the tree is sound or broken or whether the saddle is non-treed. The tree is the rigid structure inside the saddle and if it is broken it can cause considerable damage to the horse and pose a serious safety risk. A saddle with a broken tree should never be used on a horse and should only be purchased for another purpose such as ornamental. On other sites it is possible that a saddle is "as described" yet the tree is broken. In this instance the buyer would have no come back on the seller. In order to place an advertisement on Saddleseek.com, you will need to register. We will require you to supply your name, email address, postal address, post code and password. You will also be required to supply payment details which will be processed through a secure on-line payment facility. Credit card information is used solely for the purpose of payment processing. Saddleseek.com retains no record of credit card details. None of the information will be disclosed to a third party however, telephone numbers and email addresses supplied as part of an advertisement will be published within the relevant advertisement for the duration of the booking, to enable a potential buyer to contact the seller.
The post code is collected in order to provide a positioning on each item within our database, thereby enabling potential buyers to locate items for sale within a set radius of their chosen location. Post codes and item information are collected in order to provide a relevant match of items against a specific search. The inclusion of post code enables us to provide the potential buyer with a range of items within a chosen location, rather than items randomly spread throughout the country.
We require no personal information from those wishing to browse the site. We will automatically capture impersonal data through the use of cookies (see below).
Email addresses are collected in order to send registrants their chosen passwords, provide them with on-line access to their registration details (available within the "my page" section on the website), to keep registrants informed of promotions and for the marketing of products and services. The user can access this information at any time in order to update their details.
